Tiger Dad: Lady Tigers play in finals of Crescent Bank Holiday InvitationalJust in case anyone wants to know, the Fayette County Lady Tigers will be playing in the championship game of the Crescent Bank Holiday Invitational tomorrow (Tuesday 12/23) afternoon at 3:00. The Lady Tigers have won 3 games in a row to reach the finals. The game will be on a live webcast starting at 3:00. You can find more information at www.beachballclassic.com. This is a fairly prestigious tournament for girl's high school basketball. There are teams from Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia, Florida, & New Jersey participating in this invitation only tournament. Tiger Dad: FCHS Tiger Football Game...disgusting.I have a few comments about the Fayette County Tigers football game this past Friday night. I was there honestly not knowing what to expect to see on the field. I went to almost all of the games last year, including the away games. I must say that what I saw last night might keep me at home on Friday nights this season. No, I’m not talking about the way the Tigers played. They lost and that happens. You can’t win every game. What I’m talking about are the students and fans in the bleachers. I’ve never seen so many young men (I hesitate on using “men”) tugging and pulling on their pants in my life. I didn’t go to the game to see what kind of underwear they are wearing. Speaking of underwear, there were several young ladies (again, hesitation) with sports bras on with a lot of their chest area exposed. I’m not old fashioned, but 14, 15, 16 and 17 year old girls should not be as exposed as that. I have a teenaged daughter and she would NEVER leave the house looking like that. And, as if that were not enough, parents there to watch the game let their little children (4 & 5 years old) run all around. I was stepped on, pushed, grabbed, and kicked in the back all night long. Only one time did someone say “excuse me”. Parents sitting near me with the small children NEVER apologized or said “excuse me”. Tiger Dad: Attention Fayetteville Voters...Before you cast your vote in tomorrow's election, you might want to read the following letter to the editor from January 2006. It paints a pretty clear picture of Mr. Al Hovey-King. In case you aren’t aware, Mr. Hovey King owns property at Pye Lake and is a major reason why the events of this letter took place. Do we really want to have that kind of political figure as a city councilman? I don’t, and I hope the voters of Fayetteville really understand who they are voting for before they go to the polls tomorrow. He’s obviously in it for himself and not the city of Fayetteville. |
