County
rivals to meet on Friday By MICHAEL
BOYLAN It is time once again for the biggest football game in the county, the Fayette County/McIntosh football game. Regardless of how either team has done in the season, this is the game for all the marbles, a year's worth of bragging rights. This game has added significance because McIntosh will drop to AAA next season and most likely will not meet Fayette County on the gridiron. The two teams have experienced their share of disappointments this season but look forward to the match that gets everyone in the area excited. McIntosh has posted a 1-8 record, while Fayette County is 3-6. There is talent on both sides of the ball for the two teams and neither team can be considered a heavy favorite. The game will be played at Fayette County High School tonight with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. In other football action tonight, Starr's Mill (7-1) travels to face a good Woodward Academy squad and Sandy Creek (5-3) will battle North Clayton at home for a shot at going to the playoffs. East Coweta (7-2) will travel to Stockbridge to end the regular season and prepare for the playoffs. Northgate travels to face Mt. Zion, Carrollton and Landmark Christian plays at Greenville. |
