Southern Federal is ready for Y2K

The southern Federal Credit Union is working hard to dispel the worry or anxiety that members may have about Y2K.

Late last month, the credit union hosted a special Y2K Day at their Fayetteville branch.

The day was planned in order for members to see first-hand that the credit union is Y2K ready and will be in good operating order on the first day of the year.

The computers were set to Jan.1, 2000 and members were allowed to conduct mock transactions to see if any problems arose.

Transactions that took place included fund transfers, loan payments and money posits and withdrawals. There were no problems, and members were given a receipt showing that the transaction took place on Jan.1, 2000.

“We wanted to allow our members the chance to see that we are ready and the computer system at the credit union will perform properly,” said Mickey Garland, marketing director at the credit union.

“Our members can be confidant that the Southern Federal Credit Union will serve them in the year 2000 and beyond,” he added.
