, Southern Community Bank can move ahead with its plans for a two-story headquarters building at the corner of North Jeff Davis Drive and Jefferson Avenue, but the bank will be lacking 11 parking spaces that were part of its original plans.

Fayetteville's Planning Commission Tuesday voted unanimously to approve the latest development plans for the bank, which satisfy commission insistence on saving as many large oak and pecan trees as possible.

Bank architects redrew the plans and moved the building south of where they had originally positioned it, resulting in an encroachment on the required buffer between the bank and a residential neighborhood next door.

Commissioners granted a variance to allow the buffer encroachment, but disallowed 11 parking spaces along Jeff Davis.
