Thunder rolls out of Atlanta Motor Speedway

Thursday Thunder's ten-week summer run concluded with six clear-cut division champions and one tie. Possibly the highlight of the night was the major upset in the Celebrity Legends Race between Hit Country's Y106 midday personality Dallas McCade and the station's Vanna in the Van.

Popular music personality Dallas McCade won her grudge match over Vanna, leading from start to finish. The win was a major upset over the previously unbeaten Vanna.  McCade was able to cruise home in the final lap after Vanna's last try to pass, coming out of turn two, resulted in a spinout.

Reed Sorenson of Peachtree City won for the fifth time in the last six weeks in the Jet Food Stores Semi-Pro division. The win solidified the season championship for Sorenson. Oliver Gentry of Madras, Ga. finished the race in third place and closed out the season as the division runner-up.

Steve Dale became the second driver to hail from Peachtree City to claim a Thursday Thunder season championship. Dale won his fifth race of the year on his way to earning the Computer Concepts Masters title. John East from Dallas, Ga. worked his way up from a 12th place starting spot to take home a season-best second place finish. Randy Thornton from Conyers held onto his second place spot in the points race, despite a season-low ninth place finish.

Brandon McElroy from Newnan won his second race of the year in the Cintas Young Lions division. McElroy's season-ending effort was still not enough to take the season title.

Walt Brannen of Elko, Ga. saw his four-race win streak come to an end, had a large enough lead over McElroy to offset his season-worst finish of ninth and took home the season crown.

Griffin's Blake Powers recorded a season-best second place finish and took third place for the season.
