The Wolf Creek Young Shooters continue to set their sights on winning. They hosted the 34th Junior International Air Pistol competition recently, welcoming their guests with tough competition at nearly every level.

In the overall match competition, Wolf Creek shooters placed second and third. Billy Harrison of Fayetteville took the silver medal by shooting a 366. Harrison was followed closely by Peachtree City's Brandon Wayda, who shot a 361. In the J1 division, Cole Beatenbough of Moreland placed second. Beatenbough shot a 347.

For the J2 division, the Wolf Creek Foxes finished first, second, and third. Diana Hamlin Beauford won the gold, shooting a 358. She was followed by Jodie Briggs who shot a 355. Kristi Smith took home the bronze medal, by shooting a 337. The Foxes also finished first in overall team scores in the J2 division, recording a 1050.

In the J3 division, Wolf Creek Shooters placed first and second. Neil Robinson finished first with a 296 and Dane Beatenbough finished second with a 276. Robinson and Beatenbough were also part of the Wolf Creek Black team that placed third overall in J3 with a score of 895. The Wolf Creek Silver team, made up of Wayda, Harrison, and Cole Beatenbough placed first overall shooting a total score of 1074.

Practice certainly seems to be paying off for the young shooters. They shoot scores more consistently and their confidence improves each day. The level of competition they face certainly plays a part in their performance.Though shooting is an individual sport, they are definitely a team. The team returns to school next week but will still compete in the fall.
