Fridays stay busy on the ground and in the air
When Marion Forehand walked by Jim Friday's Jacksonville, Florida home almost 43 years ago on her way to school she didn't realize she was soon to meet her future husband. Jim saw her walk by, was compelled to “fall in behind her” and follow her to school. He says he's been following her ever since. Per Jim, “She was a cute rascal.”
 
Dixie Wing keeps flying for history's sake
The Dixie Wing is the Atlanta branch of the American Airpower Heritage Foundation (AAHF). The Foundation is more commonly known as the Confederate Air Force (CAF), although the name does not accurately portray the scope or purpose of the group.
 
Falcon Field a strong asset for Fayette County
Peachtree City-Falcon Field Airport has a strong history in the Fayette County area. Founded in 1968 by developer Joel Cowan, it was acquired by the Peachtree City Airport Authority in 1987 with the express purpose of supporting the industrial, commercial and recreational aviation community in Fayette County and the surrounding areas. Those flying in and out for conferences at Aberdeen Woods or the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center also take advantage of the conveniently located airport.
 
Big crowds expected for Wings over Dixie this fall
The reasons? One is the demise of the Dobbins Air Show. According to Ross Berry, Co-Chair of the Sponsorship Committee, “We will now be the only air show in the Atlanta area.”
 
Youth homes meeting huge county needs
Although Jim Friday's participation as a juror on a child abuse case and his subsequent curiosity are the known beginnings of the Fayette Youth Protection Home, Inc. Friday gives credit to a higher power. He says the roots of the Home can be traced directly back to a prayer he made in anger.
 
Flight school off and running
The Peachtree Flight School began offering lessons at Falcon Field on June 1, filling the void when Falcon Flight School closed their doors. The school also continues to operate out of Griffin as the Griffin Flight School.
