Further
sewage spills into Lake Peachtree unacceptable I attended the July 12 meeting [of the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority] which dealt with the recent three sewage spills into Lake Peachtree. I am a 13-year resident on the lake and a current member of the Lake Peachtree Association with a membership of about 75 families. I suspect that more than any other group of individuals in this city, we have a sincere vested interest in the water quality for our lakes. We all want clean water. With city construction at its peak the last 8 years, we have seen the silt problems get worse, the trash problems get worse, and now raw sewage spills. Association members are angry and frustrated with the way this natural resource has been treated and impacted by these problems. I was pleased to hear that WASA has purchased new equipment to inspect our old sewer lines so potential problems can be fixed. I would hope that inspections and repairs of the oldest lines some of which run near our lakes and streams would take priority. We want Lake Peachtree to be a safe drinking water source and safe for public recreation. Allowing further sewage to spill into the lake is simply unacceptable. Scott Powell
