Little Anthony and the Imperials to take PTC amphitheater stage

Little Anthony and the Imperials will take the stage this weekend at the Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater in Peachtree City.

The group, known for hits like “Goin' Out of My Head,” “Hurt So Bad” and “I'm Falling in Love With You,” started out in 1958. Forty years later, the members are reunited to bring audiences the songs and style that have made them an R&B legend.

They remain one of the few groups to have maintained “star presence” throughout the 1960s when the British music invasion and Motown sound monopolized the air waves.

The group's first big hit, recorded in 1958, was “Tears on My Pillow,” which sold over a million copies. “Two People World,” on the flip side, doubled their success, making Little Anthony and the Imperials' first record one of the most popular two-sided recordings in vocal group history.

The group's members are Anthony Gourdine, Sammy Strain, Ernest Wright and Clarence Collins.

They will perform Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Tickets are $21, plus a $3 handling fee per order.
