Voters sent message: slow down growth

Re: Article on school board needing to revisit SPLOST/bond issue.

The message send by the voters when they turned down the school board's SPLOST is to slow down development. The development of Fayette County has become a big opportunity for developers at the expense of the citizens.

The cycle which needs to be broken is the build the homes and businesses, bring in more residents and workers and then expect the existing citizens of Fayette County to foot the bill. This is extortion through politics.

If you want development then make the developers pay for the improvements, including schools, roads, government buildings, etc., that their growth has created.

After all, the majority of Fayette County's citizens will not derive any benefit from the continued growth and development of Fayette County.
