Wrestler
going to national wrestling tournament By MICHAEL BOYLAN Sports Editor The Starr's Mill wrestling team had a spectacular season this past winter. The Panthers earned a sixth place finish and produced several state champions and champion caliber wrestlers with a very young team. One of those wrestlers was sophomore Christopher Coleman. Coleman finished the season ranked sixth at the AAA state meet. His success during the season comes because he works hard in the off season. During the spring and summer, Coleman participates in U.S.A. Freestyle wrestling, which is sponsored by a nonprofit organization. During this past season, Coleman won nine first place medals, two second place medals, and one third place medal. Now, Coleman is gearing up for a national tournament in North Dakota in July. He will be traveling with the Team Georgia Cadet National Team. Coleman qualified for the team in May. He placed first at the Team Georgia State Championship Cadet Team Qualifier. Recently, he placed third at the Southeastern Cadet Regional Tournament. Coleman will face some of the toughest competition in the nation this summer. The experience will make him a better wrestler and get him closer to the title of state champion in AAA.
