Summer track
series to keep county athletes running through summer By MICHAEL BOYLAN Sports Editor The Peachtree City Running Club made a donation awhile back to help expand the facilities for the McIntosh track team, and now they're getting their use out of it. Starting this Wednesday, the club invites runners of all ages and abilities to participate in the Summer Track Series. All events will take place on the new rubberized track at McIntosh High School. The series will run every Wednesday evening, beginning at 6 p.m. There will be a number of heats based on the number of runners and their abilities. The events that will be offered will be the 50-yard dash (for ages 10 and under), the 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dash, the 800-, 1,600-, and 3,200-meter run, the three-mile run and the 400- and 1,600- meter relays. There will be a championship July 13 and 14. The series is free to participants and to spectators. The running club has certainly felt the growth. It now has more than 150 members who continue to open their arms to all age groups, sponsoring fun runs, youth triathalons and now the summer track series. After the events each Wednesday, the group will head over to Partners Pizza II for food, drink and merriment.
