The Fayette County Youth Soccer League is still accepting registrations for the Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPS) for physically and mentally challenged boys and girls, ages 6 to 19. The cost is $40 per year, and we are hoping to participate in the Special Olympics in May, in the 8 through 15 age group. Call Pete Folds at 770-719-8276 for additional information.

The Starr's Mill High School Interact Club is starting it's first annual 5K Run/Walk - the Daffodil Dash - on Saturday, May 1. The run begins at 7:45 and the walk begins at 8 a.m. The race will begin and end in front of the Peachtree City Ampitheater. The entry fee is $18 until April,10 and $20 afer that. The 14th Annual Newnan-Coweta Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament will be on Wednesday, May 12 at the Orchard Hills Golf Club. The tournament will have a shotgun start at 12:30 P.M. witha Ft. Lauderdale format at a cost of $100 per person. The fee includes golf cart, greens fee, range balls, prizes, box lunch, beverages, social hour and awards presentation. The Davidson Lodge #334 F&AM's 7th Annual Spring Golf Tournament will be on May 15 at The Pines Golf Course. The entry fee is $50 per person and the fee includes Green Fee and Cart. The tournament is a four person, Ft. Lauderdale Tournament. The assembly time is 8 a.m. and proceeds will support The Crippled and Burned Children's Hospital and the Masonic Children's Home. Tyrone Elementary School will host it's first annual Shamrock Classic 5K Run/Walk on May 8. Proceeds will be used for technology in the clasrooms and resource areas. You can register the day of the event but there is a $2 discount if you register by April 30. Along with the 5K race, there will be a two mile walk, a one mile walk and 50 yard and 100 yard dashes for elementary school students. The Soccer Centre in Fayetteville is accepting registrations for the Summer Indoor Youth Soccer League. Play begins June 21 and ends August 22. the summer league is for recreational teams (Under 6 -Under 16), High School girls teams and boys Under 19 open teams only. The registration deadline is June 7. he season will consist of 7 games with no playoffs. There are no practices and games are played on weekday evenings, Saturdays and Sunday afternoons. Fayette County's best kept secret, the 17th annual Brooks Day Festival 10 K Road Race and Pavilion Dance will be held May 8 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The 14th annual Kiwanis Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Southwest Christian Hospice will be held on Friday, May 7 at the Lake Spivey Golf Club in Jonesboro. The Ft. Lauderdale style tournaentwill have a shotgun start at 1:0 p.m. The cost is $65 and will cover cart and green fees. Lunch will be provided by Chick-Fil-A. For more information call 770-477-9836.

The 7th annual Rhubarb Jones Celebrity Golf and tennis Classic to benefit the Leukemia Society of America will be held May 3 at Brookfield Country Club in Roswell. The day will culminate in the 19th hole barbecue and concert featuring John Michael Montgomery,Aaron Tippin, Chad Brock and more. The Annual Ladies Swing FORE a Cure golf tournament, also to benefit the Leukemia Society of America, will be held May 17 at the Indian Hills country Club in Marietta. The Thomas Crossroads Elementary PTO doesn't ant you to miss Tiger Trek '99, a 5K Competitve Run - 1 mile Fun Run/Walk on May 1 at 8:30 a.m. The race begins at Summergrove in Newnan which is located at Lower Fayetteville Rd at Shenandoah Parkway. The HSR Walter Mitty Challenge is April 29 - May 2 at Road Atlanta. It is the largest event east of the Mississippi for vintage,classic and historic race cars. Only cars that were actual former race cars, rather than cars modified for vintage racing, are allowed to enter.

The second annual Get Active Atlanta, a fun fitness festival will be held at Centennial Olympic Park on Saturday, May 8. The event is free and will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day will kick off with a 5K road race at 8:30 a.m. Call 770-528-3580 to register for the race.

The 1999 Peachtree City Youth Soccer Association's annual meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26 at the lower level meeing rooms of the Peachtree City Library.
