New Senoia Raceway sets 'Race Against Drugs'

Winged outlaw sprint car racing returns to New Senoia Speedway this Saturday night, along with door to door racing in the Legends and Stock Car divisions in the "Race Against Drugs" 150.

The United Sprint Car Series "Outlaw Thunder" Tour roars into town for a visit to Georgia's fastest 3/8 mile asphalt oval. This weekend's event will help raise funds for the "Race Against Drugs" program. The program promotes drug resistance education in local schools by teaching children about motorsports and how to resist peer pressure to use harmful drugs.

Defending USCS champion "Fast Eddie" Gallagher of Memphis, Tenn., will be racing. Gallagher had 14 wins last year and has two wins so far this season. He is the series points leader but he is facing some stiff competition.

Red Stauffer, the 1997 champion, will be in attendance as will Terry Gray. Gray trails Gallagher by four points in the current point standings.

Sprint car veterans Pete Walton of Fayetteville, Randy Helton of Palmetto and Jim McKenzie of Buford will represent the "Georgia Gang" entries in Saturday's race.

Gates open at 4 p.m. and racing begins at 7 p.m. For information phone 770-599-6161.
