Family retreat at 1st Baptist

Members of Fayetteville First Baptist Church have the opportunity to participate in the church's first Spring Family Retreat, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15 at the Shocco Springs Conference Center in Talladega, Ala. “Modeling the Father: Developing Quality Relationships that Last” will be the theme.

The cost is $30 for adults, $8 for children 9 years and older, and $4 for children 3-8 years of age.

Mum for Mom

Members of Providence United Methodist Church in Fayetteville may purchase a “Mum for Mom” to be given to mothers on Mother's day. The mums are in six-inch pots. Names of mothers incuded will be placed on a special bulletim insert and flowers will be avialable to take home on Mother's Day.

Prepaid orders at $10 per plant will be taken through Sunday, May 2. All profits from the sale will go toward equipment and storage for the children's outside play area.

Men's seminar

New Hope Baptist Church in Fayetteville will have a two-day seminar Friday and Saturday, May 7 and 8 entitled “Men to Men: To the Point.”

The Friday seminar is scheduled for 7-10 p.m. and the Saturday seminar will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Featured speakers will be Steve Farrar speaking on “Finishing Strong,” Stu Weber speaking on “Four Times a Man,” and Dean Gage speaking on “Being a Spiritual Leader.”

“When you stand eye to eye with a man, you know what that man stands for,” a spokesperson said. “This is an event to come eye to eye with three of the nation's leading speakers to men. This event is not for the man who is interested in `playing church,' but if you are a man willing to face head-on the call of being the leader God wants you to be, then this is the conference for you.”
