Mr. and Mrs. H.E.
Holbrook's request to annex their home into
Fayetteville and change its zoning to allow a
dental lab will go to City Council with a
positive recommendation from the city Planning
Commission.
Council will
discuss the request in its work session tonight
and conduct formal first reading Monday night,
with plans to vote on the matter May 17.
Meanwhile, the
Planning Commission will begin its review of
development plans for the project, slated for
1.44 acres on Sandy Creek Road behind Fayette
Community Hospital, during its May 11 work
session.
Development plans
in the hospital area must be more detailed and
meet more stringent requirements than in other
areas, because the state Department of Natural
Resources has listed that area in an
environmentally sensitive ground water recharge
zone.
Because of the
listing, the development plans also must be
approved before council can approve the
annexation and zoning.
No toxic elements
will be disposed of at the site, said John
DeLash, owner of Fayette Dental Aesthetics,
during a recent Planning Commission work session.
DeLash and wife,
Paula, plan to move the lab from its current
location on Jeff Davis Drive.
One metal used in
the lab's denture making procedures is
right now marketing higher than gold,
he said. We're not about to let it get
away.
The lab will have
only eight employees and virtually no customer
traffic, he said, adding that he plans use the
house that is currently on the property with no
major changes.
Planning
commissioners voted unanimously to recommend
approval of the annexation and rezoning during
last week's business meeting.
In other action,
commissioners approved development plans for:
ä A 10,000-sq. ft.
super CVS pharmacy at 510 N. Glynn St., next to
Checker's restaurant. The pharmacy and restaurant
will share a driveway onto Ga. Highway 92. The
pharmacy also will have an entrance on Ga.
Highway 85.
ä Three office
buildings on Weatherly Drive between Fayette
Montessori School and Weatherly subdivision. Each
building is 2,000 square feet, with one building
having a 4,400-sq. ft. warehouse attached, for
storage of construction equipment used by Meja
Construction Company, owner of the complex.
ä A 5,400-sq. ft.
repair shop building in the Ivyland industrial
park on Robinson Drive. A spokesman said the
building is speculative, having no tenant at
present.
ä Lot number one
of Burch Office Park. A 3,200-sq. ft. office
building is planned, using the same residential
style construction as in other lots in the
development.
