They wear earth toned shaded clothes, speak a weird dialect and hawk their wares to all passersby. If you see these people, you aren't walking the streets of New York City, you are at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. This weekend the festival returns to it's home in Fairburn for six weeks of fun and frivolity. All of your old friends will be back, the jousters, the jesters, the guy with the birds of prey exhibit, and this year there is something extra special, the Cats of the World Show. The show will run several times during the day and will feature all sorts of large and beautiful exotic cats, including a snow leopard. Of course, there will also be the rides and games, the crafts and wares and the excellent food and drink. There are a number of fun and interesting shows to watch and participate in as well as petting zoo, full of all sorts of cute animals. The Georgia Renaissance Festival offers patrons a chance to slip back in time and enjoy a much simpler life, while also allowing them to use credit cards and enjoy frosty beverages. The festival is located in Fairburn. If you are traveling on 85 South, take Exit 12, turn right at the end of the ramp and proceed for 1.2 miles. If you are traveling north on 74, go beyond the ramp for 85 North and proceed for 1.2 miles. The festival is open from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until June 6. Admission is $12.95 and discounts are available at Publix. The discount this weekend allows you to buy one adult admission and get one adult admission free. If you're looking for some fun in the coming weekends, put on your best jolly old England voice and some comfortable pilgrimage shoes and head out for some mutton, maidens, mud fights and merriment at the Georgia Renaissance Festival. Don't forget to get yourself Bobmatized! |
