Water and sewer officials will find out next Thursday how members of the City Council of Peachtree City feel about a proposal to extend sewer service into Coweta County.

The Senoia City Council has drawn up a letter of intent requesting that the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority consider allowing Senoia to use its system. WASA director Larry Turner will address council at next Thursday's regular meeting, 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The Water Authority cannot extend its service outside the corporate limits of Peachtree City without a vote of approval from the City Council. This was one of the conditions set forth when the city acquired the water and sewer system and extended its own credit rating to allow better financing of a WASA bond issue.

There are currently a few areas outside the city that are served by the sewer system. One is the Starr's Mill school complex, and another is the Chimneys residential development.

Both are south of the city.

The Peachtree East shopping center on Ga. Highway 54, which contains Publix and SteinMart, also is on sewer and outside the city. Crabapple Woods was outside the city when Peachtree City acquired the sewer system and extended service to the subdivision, but it has since been annexed.

In other business, the Water Authority took action at its regular monthly meeting last Monday authorizing the director to proceed with the next step in the watershed assessment.

Turner reported to the board on his plans for odor control at two problem areas in the city, near Starr's Mill and the Interlochen and Rosemount developments. That work, which is within his limits to authorize, is under way, as he has already made a purchase order for odor control equipment.

The new vacuum truck recently purchased was presented to the board, and its members were very impressed, Turner said. Training on the vehicle has been completed, and water authority employees have already begun using it.
