The city of Senoia may soon have a part-time city manager. Mayor Joan Trammell told the city council Monday night that she sees the need for at least a part-time city manager fairly quickly. "If we get a sewer system started, we're going to need somebody to monitor that," she said. She complimented the efforts of public works director Leonard Thompson, but said the complexity of running a sewer system would require someone with experience who could make sure the system was working properly, along with doing other tasks such as writing grants for the city. The mayor said she's seen projections of nearly 100 homes being built in the city each year for the next few years and the city's business is gradually getting more complicated. In order to serve the citizens best, Trammel said she was going to look at what other cities in Senoia's population range were doing and would draw up a job description for a part-time city manager. The issue of a city manager has been discussed by the council during the last few years. With growth issues starting to knock at the city's door, Trammell believes the time is right to revisit the issue and make a decision.
