Depot Thank you

By CAROLYN CARY

The City of Fayetteville and Main Street recently sponsored a reception at the Fayetteville Train Depot to thank those who had a part in the refurbishing of the facility.

Home Depot Fayetteville had taken on the responsibility of furnishing the paint, materials and the landscaping. Store manager Chuck Thomas was given a framed picture of the depot by famed local artist Patsy Gullett. Also in the frame was a copy of the invitation to the reception.

"I have worked for Home Depot for 17 years," Thomas said, "and these kinds of contributions are indicative of what the company has always done. Employee Pam Hightower, community projects coordinator, worked the longest on this project and is also deserving of recognition."

Master Gardner Judy Kubitz and others in that organization completely landscaped the grounds, using nursery items supplied by Home Depot.

The local Rose Society was also recognized for its donation of the antique roses.

Also honored were various employees who worked on the project and those companies who furnished additional items.

City employee Ann Woodall baked the three-layer cake for the event, with the design of the depot depicted on top.
