'I'm the driver who killed the cat'

Letters from Our Readers

[an error occurred while processing this directive]

I read with interest the letter from Alisa Weronick - "Here's a reason for a leash law" - for I am the person who had the misfortune of hitting this cat.

Admittedly, I expected Alisa to admonish the person who hit this cat, for to the casual observer it may have appeared to be a callous act; however, it was nothing of the sort.

Unfortunately, I did not see this cat until it was in front of my vehicle, too late to even brake. But rest assured, I do not take responsibility for the death of this pet.

No. The person responsible for this death is the cat's owner.

I do, however, regret that my children had to endure this unfortunate incident - audibly and visually.

And to the gentleman who glared at me as he passed me - do not think for a moment that I was going to risk my life trying to retrieve this fallen animal from that busy highway. This animal's fate was doomed when the owner disobeyed the leash law!
