*Changes in the Fayette County land use plan affecting property along Ga. Highway 85 north and surrounding Fayette Community Hospital will get more scrutiny before the county Planning Commission acts on them.

Commission members in a work session Thursday decided to talk about the changes in their next work session, April 15.

Planning staff members are recommending no changes in the current land use plan for the hospital area, and only a few minor changes in the plan for Hwy. 85, but commissioners want to consider expanding the area included in the Hwy. 85 plan, focusing on properties farther west of Ga. Highway 314.

The next work session will be April 15 at 7 p.m. in the planning department offices. Commissioners will meet to consider regular rezoning business April 1 at 7 p.m. in the commission meeting room at the County Administrative Complex.

*The Fayetteville City Council has expressed its support of a plan to open a vocational school sponsored by Griffin Technical Institute in the Peachtree City Industrial Park.

Lack of qualified workers is the biggest complaint among local industries, according to the county Development Authority, which is working to bring the Griffin Tech facility to the county.

City Council last week passed a resolution supporting the move.
