The 1999 Miss Pride of Fayette County Pageant takes place this weekend at Sams Auditorium. This is the 31st year for the pageant, which is hosted by the Fayette County High School Band Boosters and serves as a fundraiser for the band. Entertainers Joe and Kim Stanley of Fayetteville will emcee the weekend's events. The competition includes girls from kindergarten through 12th grades, but new this year is the addition of the Tiny Miss division for ages 3-4. Required dress includes pageant style dresses or semi-formal party dresses. There will be no swimsuit or talent competition in the pageant. Categories and competition times are as follows: Tiny Miss Pride ages 3-4, March 20, 1 p.m. Little Miss Pride grades K-2, March 20, 3 p.m. Young Miss Pride grades 3-5, March 20, 3 p.m. Junior Miss Pride grades 6-8, March 19, 7:30 p.m. Miss Pride grades 9-12, March 20, 7:30 p.m. Queens will be selected in each of the five competition categories. Winners receive a trophy, banner, crown, flowers, cash prize and gifts donated by local businesses. Tickets will be available at the door for $5 (adults) and $3 (students).
