The Fayette County boys soccer team had a good week
last week. Last Tuesday, they faced and destroyed Carver, 15-0.
The starters opened the game but the majority of the game was
played by the bench and the JV players brought up. Jonathan
Williams, who mostly plays goal for the Tigers, led the team in scoring
with three goals. Todd Edwards scored twice for Fayette County
while Preston Pack, Justin Toole Nick Zatezalo, Andrew
Doggendorf, Normer Adams, Andrew Sherman, Brad West,
Skip Beaubien, Mark Huelsbeck and Phillip McFarlin each
scored once. The game ended early due to the mercy rule, but Carver
typically has fun in this game, knowing they are not really a match
for the Tigers. This game was the fifth shutout for Fayette
County, they have outscored their opponents 36-4.
The Tigers hosted the Newnan Cougars on Friday and
dominated yet again. They outshot their opponent, 28-3, defeating them
5-1. The first four goals were scored by Fayette County, the first
three coming in the first nine minutes. Newnan held tough though,
only allowing one more goal to be scored before the half. In the
second half, Fayette County let down it's guard briefly and gave up
a goal to Newnan. The two teams played tough and then with
two minutes remaining, JB Wood was awarded a penalty kick. He
capitalized, scoring his first goal of the season. Andy Hannon had
two goals for the Tigers, while Trevor Bowman and Todd Edwards
each had one. David Dirring recorded two assists, while
Bowman, Edwards and Brent Turner each had an assist. The boys will
host Woodstock on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
