Plans for a Ryan's steak house, an additional restaurant and shops for just over two acres on Ga. Highway 85 are on hold as developer Thomas Enterprises seeks annexation into Fayetteville.

A small part of the property is in the city, and the firm had begun the process of getting development plans approved by both the city and Fayette County governments, but that plan calls for city sewer to serve the site, and that's not possible, city officials say.

"In order to receive city sewer, it needs to be in the city," said Fayetteville planning director Jahnee Prince.
