The Starr's Mill boys and girls soccer teams
faced regional opponent Riverdale on Friday night. You
might say the results were pretty good. Both teams
combined to shut out the Raiders 24-0. The boys won by a score
of 9-0. Chris Shaver, Mikey Hubbard and Yu
Murakoshis scored two goals each, while Jared Grace, Danny
Bates and Zack McManus scored one goal each. Eric
Matlaga had two assists and Jason Daly, Timmy Murphy,
Don Lambing and Tristan Flynn each had one assist.
The Panthers overall record is now 3-2 and they are 1-0
in sub-region play.
The Lady Panthers continued their winning ways and hammered Riverdale
15-0. The Raiders did not even get a shot off, as
every member of the Starr's Mill team scored. Janet Burke
and Allison Graham had two goals each while Alice Martin, Lauren Jones,
Jessica Parsons, Cathryn Slasinski, Alicia Schulz and
Amanda Thurber each had one goal. The defense and
offense switched out midway through the first half and
Lindsay Wegrzyn, Jordan Turner, Brady Ragan, Rachel
Sproul and Stacee Sproul each scored a goal. Shortly
after the second half began, the game was called due to
the 15 goal mercy rule. The Lady Panthers played
Creekside last night and face Jonesboro on Friday night. The boys
are off until Mar.16.
