The Brooks Town Council has announced that it met its goal of selling 2,000 commemorative Coke bottles. It will have the new town logo on it and had been for sale for several months. The order is expected to be received in about a month, and those who paid in advance will be notified by mail for pickup.

Brooks Festival board member Linda Cisco appeared before the council and said they need liability insurance for the day of its 17th annual festival on Saturday, May 8. She pointed out that if the festival group buys the insurance itself, the cost might be as much as $1,000, but if they could get it through the town's policy company, it would be at least a third less. The council told her they would see what they could do.

A garbage pickup company in Meansville was on the agenda to state they would like to give a bid for the town's garbage service, and the council invited them to do so.

Five-way stop signs were installed in the north end of town and is expected to not only slow speeders coming through on the Ga. Highway 85 Connector but to also cut down on the number of accidents and near-accidents at the intersection.

The library building is in need of a coat of exterior paint and it was voted to expend as much as $200 for the paint.

Discussion for the return of the old fire station building to the Town of Brooks is still underway with the county administration. The town had originally donated the land and building for it and with a new fire station now open, (the town also donated that property, too), it would like consideration be given them for the former land to be given back, officials said.
