Panther Tennis opens season 1-0

The Starr's Mill Panthers opened the 1999 Tennis season with a bang. The boys defeated Forest Park, 5-0. Dane Davenport ousted Ronnie Samm 8-0 in the first of the boys eight game pro sets. All the boys matches were eight game pro sets due to a late start. Patrick Davis, ne to the Panther team, defeated Andy Hall in the second singles match, 8-2. Starr's Mill's Apurva Doshi won the third singles match over Chris McCracklin 8-0. Both of the Panther's doubles teams, Dan Mammola and Brian Spears and Chad Newton and Patrick O'Donnell, won their matches by a score of 8-0.

The Panther girls defeated Forest Park, 4-0. Jessica Huber won her match 6-0, 6-0. Teri Cobb won her match 6-1, 6-2. Lisa Gentilini was winning her match 6-3, 2-1 when the game had to be called for lateness. Both girl's doubles teams won their matches 6-0, 6-0. Kelsi and Keri Mat wick won over Crystal McCullough and Jeannine Henderson and Kelli Odom and Erin Ritter defeated Britinie Hall and Judy Ho.

J.D. Massey, the boys coach, was very happy with the team's first outing of the season. Teresa Hobbs, the girl's coach, is also looking forward to a great season. The boys face McIntosh on Friday while the girls play Newnan.
