Free benefit concert to be held this weekend

Benefiting local hunger relief organizations and Atlanta's World Vision, featured artists Margaret Becker, a former Fayette County High School graduate; Atlanta-based Newsong, The Waiting and Fayetteville-based According to John will perform a free benefit concert at the Fayetteville Pavilion, Feb. 27 from 3:30-6 p.m. The concert will be in the Home Depot Parking Lot. The concert will be in conjuction with the 30-Hour Famine, where more than 600,000 American teens across the U.S. will give up food for 30 hours. The program us designed to help young people learn about global hungar and poverty while raising funds to fight hunger. Please bring one canned food item. 1-800-7FAMINE.

Trumpet soloist to deliver concert Sunday

Scott Brookins of Colorado Springs, Colo., will perform a variety of music including jazz, inspirational, and praise and worship at First Christian Church, located at 294 Jenkins Road in Tyrone on Feb. 28, at 6 p.m. Brookins performs full time with his ministry at churches, prisons, schools and conventions. He has been on television programs and his music can be heard on radio stations across the United States and Eastern Europe. The community is invited to attend.

Leaders to attend Serendipity workshop Saturday

Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will serve as the host church for the nationally acclaimed Serendipity training seminar for small group leadership this Saturday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 a.m. If you lead or teach on any level (UMV, UMM, Sunday School, children, adults, committees, etc.) this seminar is for you. Lyman Coleman of Littleton, Colo., will lead this four-hour workshop on effective leadership. Church members will receive a discount. To register, call 1-800-525-9563.
