a global reputation
Several faculty members of the Clayton College &
State University School of Business have been making
themselves known on the presentation and paper circuit.
Faculty members have been involved in accounting
seminars, presentations on how to improve learning by technology,
requirements for financial reporting, and a paper on how
employee motivation is affected by cultural diversities.
In September, Dan Hallock and Greg Kordecki hosted
the Georgia Association of Public Accountants' 10th annual
accounting seminar in the CCSU Harry S. Downs Center
for Continuing Education.
The seminar lasted for two days, and included presentations
on "Y2K," "Accounting Problems and Opportunities," and
"MalpracticeWays to Limit Exposure."
In addition, Hallock presented his "Leadership
Questions: What Lies Beyond Accounting and Auditing Supervision?"
and Kordecki explained "Recent Accounting Pronouncements
and Trends Relevant to the Small Practitioner."
At the same conference, Hallock and Kordecki united
on several issues: "Leadership Answers: Methods to Improve
Staff Output, Client Relations, and Billable Time for
Accounting Services," "Accounting CommunicationsApplications
Encountered in Practice", and "Accounting
CommunicationsPerformance for Clients and Third Parties."
The welcoming address for the conference was provided
by Ernest M. Miller, dean of the CCSU School of Business.
Kordecki also presented "Financial Reporting Issues for
Compilation and Review Engagements" as part of the
Georgia Society of CPAs accounting institute, which is held annually
in October at the University of Georgia.
Kordecki is a member of the institute and edits the
"Conference Proceedings."
At the 23rd Annual Meeting of the Georgia
Educational Research Association in November, members of the School
of Business faculty presented on three technology topics.
Nini Yang and Michael Deis presented "Optimizing
Information Technology in Financial Management Education: An
Analysis of Innovative Learning Opportunities and Academic
Performance." Hallock, Deis, and Chris Haberland provided
"Planning for Success: Matching Teaching and Learning Styles
of Faculty students for On-Line Courses." Deis, Haberland,
Hallock, and Kordecki collaborated on "The On-Line Course: Making
it Work for Both Teacher and Learner."
Yang then journeyed to Hong Kong to present her work at
the Inaugural Conference of the Asia Academy of
Management. Yang delivered her paper, " A China Perspective on the
Cultural Relativity of Employee Motivation: When the West Meets
the East." Yang addressed the affects cultural diversity on
management and employee behavior. Yang's work will be
republished in a book, which will include the conference's most
successful papers.
