Let the games begin again

Going into the girls 4-AAAA tournament at Fayette County, McIntosh (18-3) is ranked 13th and the East Coweta Lady Indians (20-4) are ranked 15th. The top contenders in the tournament are East Coweta, Fayette County, Griffin and McIntosh. All four teams have played each other close in their games against each other this year. Most of the two games series' ended in splits.

The 4-AAAA boys tournament is being held at Newnan High School. The Fayette County Tigers opened the tournament handing Upson Lee a 76-66 loss on Monday night. The eighth ranked McIntosh Chiefs (20-3) played there on Saturday and lost their last game of the regular season to Newnan by a score of 54-48. The favorites to win are the seventh ranked Griffin Bears but all the teams in the sub-region are capable of upsetting each other.

Sandy Creek and Starr's Mill got things underway in their tournaments on Monday. The Starr's Mill boys defeated Woodward Academy in the last second by a score of 64-63. Jason Laney had 20 points, including the game winner.Dane Davenport had 18 points and Brandon Alexander added 12. Starr's Mill will face Forest Park at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sandy Creek's boys lost to Riverdale 58-46 on Monday night. In the girls tournament, Sandy Creek defeated Forest Park 36-30, while Starr's Mill lost to Riverdale 60-35.
