Amanda Lambert, a junior guard on the Sandy Creek girls basketball team, died unexpectedly Friday morning. The Patriots cancelled their games against Riverdale on Friday and McIntosh on Saturday. Counselors were available for students at Sandy Creek on Friday and Monday during school. Funeral services were held at Flat Creek Baptist Church on Monday morning.

While the students and faculty mourn the loss of Amanda, Sandy Creek will play the remainder of their games this season. However, they most likely will not reschedule the games from this past weekend. Sandy Creek will close out the regular season on Friday at Starr's Mill. Sandy Creek is also set to host the AAA basketball tournament beginning next Tuesday.
