Christian group performing Sunday in PTC

The contemporary Christian music group Dakota Road will lead the 6 p.m. Sunday worship service and present a concert Feb. 7 at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City.

Dakota Road is a worship and music publishing, leadership and performance company that specializes in original, faith-filled music, according to the group's news release. Their songs of faith and love, hurts and hopes have put them at the heart of a movement that uses a wide variety of musical gifts to lead worship and inspire participation.

The Rev. Miriam Beecher, associate pastor at Christ Our Shepherd, says the group has been featured nationwide at numerous youth gatherings, both Lutheran and interdenominational. They wrote "To Be Alive," the theme song for the 1994 gathering of Lutheran youth in Atlanta.

The group's music is frequently used in the Peachtree City congregation's contemporary service. Favorites include "Build Up," "The Lord of Light," "Savior's Song," and "The Weaver's Hand."

Dakota Road Music started in 1988 when people began requesting copies of songs the group had written and performed. Soon they published their first liturgy, and produced more music in response to requests for singable, rooted, relevant and faithful contemporary worship music.

The group has become known nationally for their original music and stirring performance style. They feature stories of life and faith woven in colorful musical styles ranging from acoustic ballads to rocking anthems.

"Their spirited, humble music appeals to all ages," Beecher said, "and their musical styles maintain liturgical integrity."

The public is cordially invited to this worship service and concert, she added. No admission fee will be charged.

The church is located at Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway. For further information, call 770-487-8134.
