Collier and Conley excel with Clayton State basketball

Joya Collier was named PBAC player of the week on Monday. It was the second time this season that she has received this accolade. In the two games during the week, the 5-11 junior out of Augusta averaged 21.0 points, 10.5 rebounds ana blocked shot a game. She shot.789 (15-19) from the floor and got her sixth double-double of the year during the Lakers loss to Georgia College and State University. Collier currently leads the team in scoring (15.6 ppg), rebounding (9.5 rpg) and blocked shots (26).

Robert Conley has made an impact with the men's team at Clayton State. He scored his 1,000th career point during the Lakers 78-60 win over Kennesaw State. Conley is only the third player in school history to score 1,000 points. The 1,000th point was scored with nine minutes remaining in the first half. Conley finished the game with 24 points. Clayton State hosts the University of North on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Lady Lakers play at 2 p.m.
