Suspected pursesnatcher to be charged by PTC police

Peachtree City police have nabbed a thief they believe to be responsible for numerous purse thefts at local grocery stores, according to reports.

Police used ATM surveillance tapes and other evidence to charge Kenneth J. Johnson, 40, of Atlanta, with two counts of theft by taking, according to reports. Johnson's driver's license was found along with related evidence from the two incidents, police said.

Johnson is currently being held in Douglas County jail on other charges.

Burglary suspect Zeus Britton of College Park, under $300,000 bond in Fayette County jail, also has been formally charged with Peachtree City burglaries at Four Star Chevron, the Pit Stop, and McDonald's on Crosstown Drive, according to reports.

Police also are investigating damages to mailboxes and other properties Jan. 16-17 at locations in Windalier Ridge, Brookfield, The Terraces, Everhill and Burnham Woods. A driver on Braelinn Road was struck with a paintball fired at the vehicle Jan. 17, reports show. Ê
