Parents who are concerned about the school system's proposed new attendance lines will have two upcoming forums to express their opinions. Last week, the board unveiled the lines for the county's two new schools that will open next fall. Operations Director Doug Bennett said the lines are preliminary and the system is eager to get feedback from the affected families. Families with children in middle school will want to attend the forum on middle school zones. The forum is set for Feb.1 at 7 p.m. at Madras Middle School on north U.S. Highway 29. Parents will get a chance to vent their feelings on the new lines for the Smokey Road Middle School at this forum. On Feb. 2 at 7 p.m., the school system is staging a public hearing at Canongate Elementary on the new elementary school zones for Arbor Springs Elementary. The opening of the new school affects students currently at Canongate Elementary and Northside Elementary. If a parent can't attend one of the forums, the school system still wants to hear your opinions on the new attendance zones. Citizens can write Dr. Doug Bennett at P.O. Box 280, Newnan, Ga. 30264 or e-mail him at dbennett@coweta.k12.ga.us with comments and suggestions.
