Still more commercial activity is coming soon to Fayetteville.

The city Planning Commission is considering plans for Service Merchandise at Fayette Pavilion, Steak 'N Shake just south of the Pavilion, Applebee's and Chuck E. Cheese at Banks Road and Ga. Highway 85, and the long-discussed Lowe's shopping center just north of Banks Crossing.

Commissioners will decide whether to approve elevations for Service Merchandise, and development plans for the other projects, during its Jan. 26 meeting, 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

City Council also is dealing with its share of development-related matters. A parking variance related to plans for the Concordia Partners shopping center at Pine Trail Road and Hwy. 85 is on the agenda, along with several rezoning matters.

Hayes Development is seeking annexation and office-institutional zoning for 3.9 acres on Ga. Highway 54, near Fayette Community Hospital. The firm originally planned two office buildings, each 9,200 square feet, and a bank, but has changed the plan to one larger office building and the bank.

Tim Trammell's request for R-THC zoning (townhouses) for 3.11 acres on Commerce Drive, across from Courtyard at Habersham subdivision, also will be considered. Trammell recently changed his plan from duplexes and triplexes to single-family lots.
