Not all the questions have yet been answered, but there is final approval for a new entrance to Wynnmeade subdivision to connect it with the proposed Line Creek Parkway. The parkway, designed to "collect" traffic from Wynnmeade, Cedarcroft and commercial areas, will connect with Ga. Highway 54 east of the present entrance to the subdivision, Wynnmeade Parkway. The traffic light at that intersection will be eliminated and another installed at Line Creek Parkway. The new connector street will be located where an existing park-playground area is owned by the city, between Castle Court and Tower Road. The 500-foot street runs just behind residences on the north side of Castle Court. Jim Williams, city director of development services, says the plans are to rebuild the park area, improving it in the process. Orville Barber and other Wyynmeade residents raised concerns about serious drainage problems in that area, and the council later attached addressing the drainage questions to its approval for building the road. Another condition incorporated in the approval was for "appropriate buffering" along the Line Creek Parkway and the new street. Approximate cost of the Wynnmeade connector is $151,000, which City Manager Jim Basinger said would be taken from the council's contingency fund. Developers in the area are paying for construction of Line Creek Parkway. Williams said no decision has been made on whether to close the Wynnmeade Parkway access onto Hwy. 54, once the new road is in place. It has been speculated that the entranceway might become the park-replacement area if the Hwy. 54 access is closed off. In answer to questions from Wynnmeade residents, Williams said also that once the commercial, apartment and cluster-home areas are all finished, traffic volume may be a problem for those leaving Wynnmeade. However, he said, one or two more entrances may be possible to the north side of Wynnmeade, and others could be built if more area is annexed into the city. About 225 single-family homes and 399 apartments are planned for an area north of Wynnmeade which may become part of Peachtree City's "fifth village."
