Atlanta-based company wins top honors for remodeling

The year 1998 continues to bring top honors to Atlanta-based SawHorse Inc., for its work in the remodeling industry.

In recent weeks, the company has earned three prestigious awards from the Georgia chapter of the National Association of Remodeling Industry and two Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association and the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council.

At the NARI Contractor of the Year Awards Program, held Tuesday night, Dec. 8, at the JW Marriott Hotel at Lenox, SawHorse Inc., received top recognition in three categories, as follows:

·Kitchen Award in the $30,000-$60,000 category for a project in Peachtree Hills. In this project, SawHorse met the objectives of providing more natural light, upgraded the appliances, and improved pantry accessibility. The back wall was opened up with glass block to create a dramatic backdrop and allow natural light into the room. Inset panels were removed in the cabinets and replaced with frosted glass, and glass shelves were added above the sink to carry out the contemporary theme and create more space.

·Bath Award in the over $20,000 category for a project in Garden Hills. SawHorse created an elegant contemporary master bath in a cramped 6'x9' existing bath. SawHorse utilized hand crafted features, including freeform curves on the glass panel, curved granite countertop, custom shaped corner caddies, and a handspun Kohler vessel sink. Mirrored walls and the repetition of materials and patterns were employed to give the illusion of a larger room.

·Residential Interior Award for an attic buildout and renovation in Brookwood Hills. SawHorse was able to create a master suite with a large closet, plus two additional bedrooms and a shared bath on the same level as the master. In doing this, the remodeling firm was able to maintain the look of the home's exterior, maintain the configuration of the existing first floor windows, open up the kitchen to a new family room/eating area, and create a spacious playroom on the lower level of the home.

The Annual Professionalism Awards Banquet was held Saturday night, Nov. 7, at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.

At this year's event, SawHorse was a Gold Winner, the top recognition, in "Residential Remodeling - Bath $20,001 and Above" for a project in Garden Hills. The firm earned a Silver Award for "Remodeling Residential - Kitchen $30,000 and Under" for a project in Peachtree Hills.

Earlier this year, Carl Seville and Jerome Quinn, principals in SawHorse Inc., accepted the 1998 Chrysalis awards for "Georgia Remodeler of the Year" and "Remodeler of the Year" for the 10-state Southeastern Region at the Southern Building Show, held in Atlanta on June 5. At the same show, SawHorse Inc. was also recognized for designing and producing the "Best Kitchen" in the $20,000-$40,000 category.

A 20-year-old company, SawHorse Inc. has captured numerous awards for its work with the first two coming in 1984. Among these honors are the coveted National Contractor of the Year (COTY) award, the National Association of Home Builders' and Remodeling Magazine's Renaissance Grand Awards, and countless specific design category awards.

SawHorse Inc. is a professional design/build residential remodeling and renovation firm serving North Metro Atlanta.
