The Fayette County High School Booster Club is launching its Hall of Fame with the 1999 Sports Hall of Fame Banquet. The banquet will be a catered event held on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. in the commons area of Fayette County High School. Ten former Fayette County athletes will be inducted in the ceremony: Michael Glass and Jim Jackson for football; Cecil Travis and Jimmy Mayfield for baseball; Willie Williams, Krista Kilburn and Felicia Kendrick for basketball; Denise Coholich for track, Cindy Schreyer for golf; and former coach, Jim Allen. Allen coached football, basketball and baseball for the Tigers. He is remembered best for leading his baseball team to a state championship in 1964. Each inductee will be presented with a plaque and their names will also be on a Hall of Fame plaque in the gym. Two new members will be inducted each year after the inaugural year's induction of ten members. A special guest speaker should be announced later this week. Tickets are on sale now at Fayette Sports for $15 and space is limited.
