If you're looking for an out of this world evening,
you won't want to miss the Fayette Chamber of
Commerce annual meeting set for Jan.30 at the Wyndham
Peachtree Conference Center. Join the chamber starts the
countdown to the millennium with special guest
speaker, Capt. Jon McBride.
McBride is sure to entertain the audience as he
relates his experiences while serving as NASA astronaut
and pilot of the Challenger. The presentation, complete
with slides of outer space, and thrilling and humorous
tales from his years at NASA, promises to delight and inspire.
The annual meeting starts with a silent auction at
6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are $75
each, or $750 for a table of 10.
Chairman Dot Kite will hand off her gavel to
incoming chairman Michael Whiteside. Other highlights of
the meeting include mealtime entertainment provided
by Danny Leos and his jazz trio, a hi-tech review of
1998 and the announcements of the Business Person of
the Year, Ambassador of the Year and the Chet
Wells Award.
After the banquet, the party continues in the
Hunt Lounce with dancing the night away to some
great oldies, beach music and Motown sounds.
