Ethel Poe

Ethel Poe, 90, Sharpsburg, died Dec. 8, 1998. She was born April 8, 1908 in Reynolds, Ga., the daughter of Willoughby Earl and Ruby Inez Ingram Marshall.

Memorial services were held at the Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, with Dr. Watson Mills officiating.

Survivors include sons, William Earl Poe, Sharpsburg and Paul Marshall Poe, Dawsonville; and a daughter, Cherie Glasse, Orinda, Calif. There are ten grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the "Senior's Ministries", Sharpsburg Baptist Church, P.O. Box 127, Sharpsburg, Ga., 30277.

Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, was in charge of the arrangements.

Sarah Sutton

Sarah Jewell Sutton, 77, Newnan, died Dec. 12, 1998. She was born July 10, 1921 in Fayette County, Ga., the daughter of Robert P. and Claude Annie Morgan Couch.

Services were held at the Martin and Hightower Hillcrest Chapel, Newnan, with the Rev. Willard Dean officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Newnan.

Survivors include her husband, James Sutton, Newnan; a son, Stanley and Phyllis Sutton, Newnan; grandchildren, Jimmy Sutton and Lisa Beall, both of Newnan, Chris Sutton, Sharpsburg, and Terry Sutton, Charleston, S.C.

Joseph Sewell

Joseph Marion "Jodie" Sewell, 75, Newnan, died Dec. 21, 1998. He was born Aug. 22, 1923 in Coweta County, Ga., the son of Thomas Gholston and Odessa Chestene Moore Sewell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jean Lowery Sewell.

Services were held at the McKoon Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Searcy Jackson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.

Survivors include his son, Thomas Harry and Cheryl Sewell, Senoia; a daughter, Carolyn Turner, Newnan; a sister, Annette S. Austin, Newnan; a sister-in-law, Nona Sewell, Whitesburg; grandsons, Jonathan Will Turner and Benjamin Thomas Sewell; and granddaughters, Cynthia Christine Turner and Jeannie Rebecca Turner.

Memorial donations may be made to West Georgia Hospice, 1514 Vernon Rd., LaGrange, Ga., 30241.

James Price

James D. "Jimmy" Price, 72, Newnan, died Dec. 28, 1998. He was born May 29, 1926 in Anderson, S.C., the son of Dewey and Pauline Prater Price.

He had been a banker and developer, and a former owner of Cawthen-Price Motors. He had served in the Navy in World War II and was a member of Capitol View Masonic Lodge.

Services were held at the First Baptist Church of Newnan with Dr. Gene Tyre and the Rev. Charles Wilson officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Gail Price, Newnan; daughters, Deborah Price Cunningham and G. Ann Price, Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Heather Jones, Whitney Pallas and James David Price; stepsons, W. T. Beauchamp III and Christopher Lee Beauchamp; and stepdaughters, Holly Beauchamp and Ashley Langelier.

Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, 27A Clark St., Newnan, 30263.

Nolan Harmon

Nolan Bailey "Joe" Harmon, 71, Myrtle Beach, S.C., died Dec. 29, 1998. He was born July 9, 1927 in Front Royal, Va., the son of Nolan B. Harmon II, a renowned Methodist Bishop, and Rebecca Lamar Harmon, formerly of Atlanta.

He served in the United States Marine Corps in 1945; then attended Emory University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a Doctor of Law degree.

A founding partner of Harmon, Smith, Bridges and Wilbanks in Atlanta, he had also served as Associate General Counsel of the State Bar of Georgia.

Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach, where he served as legal counsel and director of the Meher Spiritual Center.

Services were held at the Senoia United Methodist Church with interment in the Senoia City Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Shepherd Harmon, Myrtle Beach; children, James Lamar Harmon, Garland, Texas, Nolan Perry Harmon, Berkeley, Calif., Charles Eruch Harmon, Atlanta, Susan Harmon Hill, Vera Beach, Fla., Elizabeth Harmon, Orlando, Fla., and Deborah Jeanne Harmon, San Francisco, Calif.; grandchildren, Rebecca Harmon, Megan Scarbrough and Cody Scarbrough; and a brother, George Lamar Harmon, Winter Park, Fla.

Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, Peachtree City, was in charge of the arrangements.

David Weems

David A. Weems, 62, Sharpsburg, formerly of Red Oak, died Jan. 1, 1999. He was born May 24, 1936 in Holt County, Ala., the son of William Ernest and Flora Bernice Lee.

He was retired from Delta Airlines as a Quality Control Inspector with 30 years of service.

Services were held at the Flat Creek Baptist Church, Fayetteville, with the Rev. William O. Priester officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Newnan.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Cargile Weems; children, David Wayne and Deborah Weems, Newnan, Charles Rick and Lisa J. Weems, Columbus, Ga., Bill and Judy René Reagin, Newnan, Jimmy and Blenda Kay Bennetti, Newnan and Chris and Angela Lynn Uzynski, Sharpsburg; his mother, Bernice Weems, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a brother, Lester Weems, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a sister, Louise Pate, Tuscaloosa, Ala.; there are eight grandchildren.

Memorial contributions made be made to the Flat Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 161 Flat Creek Trail, Fayetteville, 30214.
