Fayette County High School has been the setting for the Fayette
Invitational shoot-out this week and the home court seems to be
helping the Lady Tigers. Fayette County edged out Statesboro on
Monday night by a score of 44-41. The Lady Tigers then faced Eagle's
Landing on Tuesday evening. Fayette County battled with them and
won by a score of 50-42. The Lady Tigers will face Cedar Shoals
Wednesday evening.
The Fayette County boys team opened the shoot-out
against Eagle's Landing on Monday night and handed them a 73-43 loss.
The Tigers had a tough game on Tuesday though, facing Westside,
Augusta and losing 67-40.
The Sandy Creek Lady Patriots opened the tournament against
a skilled Mays team. Sandy Creek made some errant passes and
was called on several questionable fouls, leading towards a 47-41 loss.
On Tuesday, the Lady Patriots took on North Augusta and had a
much tougher game ahead of them. North Augusta defeated Sandy Creek by
a score of 62-43.
The Sandy Creek boys team opened the shoot-out against
Mays as well and lost by a score of 62-45. Sandy Creek faced Cedar
Shoals on Tuesday and played a much better game. Cedar Shoals
outlasted the Patriots however and defeated them by a score of 39-31.
The McIntosh Lady Chiefs are playing in the Deep South
Classic at Brookwood. On Monday, the Lady Chiefs defeated Mount
Juliet, TN by a score of 57-47. In their next game, the Lady Chiefs
faced the top ranked team in America in the USA-Today poll, Butler, Ala.
McIntosh lost by a score of 87-54.
The McIntosh Chiefs have been playing in the Battle of the
Borders tournament in LaGrange. The Chiefs faced Opelika, Ala. on
Monday and defeated them, 72-47. The Chiefs continued handing out
the losses on Tuesday, as they rolled over Lafayette 86-66.
