St Andrew's in the Pines Episcopal Church will present a service of Lessons and Carols Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. at the church. The program is free and the community is invited.

Under the direction of organist and choirmaster Leslie Boyette, this simple service includes Bible readings and seasonal music. Boyette holds a Master of Sacred Music degree from Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Furman University.

The service of Lessons and Carols originated in England in 1880. It is a traditional Anglican way to celebrate the season of Advent and to prepare for the Feast of the Nativity.
