The Brooks Town Council, on behalf of its Recreation Department, will be selling commemorative Coca-Cola bottles in early Spring. The idea was that of Brooks resident, James Wilson, a Coca-Cola employee, as a means for adding funds to the Recreation Department. The date of 1821 was decided on as the beginning of Brooks and a logo was created by the Rev. Randy Kanipe, Brooks United Methodist Church. It features the former Methodist church, which is now the Town Hall. The order forms are now circulating and pre-orders must be in by Dec. 31, 1998, to be assured of getting one. The cost is $8 per bottle and pickup dates and place will be announced. It is expected to be ready sometime in February. Checks may be sent to: Town of Brooks, P.O. Box 96, Brooks, Ga., 30205, Attn: Brooks Coke Bottle. "This is a limited, one-time event," said Brooks Council member Caroline Smith. "When these are gone, there will be no more." For further information, she can be reached at 770-719-7976.
