Lesson One: if you're going to shoplift, pick something that doesn't make noise. Michael Leon Frasier, 18, of Fayetteville, forgot that "criminal lesson" last week, when he strolled out of Cobblestone Amoco on Ga. Highway 54 making a "clinking" sound, police reports say. Fayetteville Police Sgt. R.A. Stavenger was about to enter the convenience store area when Frasier walked past with his hands in his pockets, Stavenger's report said. The report also noted that the officer noticed "bulges" in the suspect's pants and a "clinking" sound as if "bottles were hitting together." Sgt. Stavenger went inside the store and quickly asked the clerk if the suspect had bought anything. When she answered no, he then went back outside and confronted Frasier. The report says four bottles of beer were removed from Frasier's person. Frasier was charged with shoplifting and illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. Fayetteville police also are investigating a number of incidents around Fayette Pavilion, including a parking lot fight and items removed from cars near WalMart. The Fayette Sheriff's Department is investigating a theft of weapons from an automobile parked on Mark Lane in Fayetteville. Deputy C. Vickery's report says that David Michael Harris reported the theft of a Browning 30.06 rifle, a Bausch & Lomb scope, and three hunting knives.
