Fayette County's business and political leaders will gather next week to
listen to the results of a recently completed survey of the county's economic
situation.
The "Community Economic Workshop" is set for Nov. 10 from 9
a.m.-1 p.m. on the third floor of the Fayette County Courthouse. Noted
economics research guru William Fruth will share his results of a survey comparing
Fayette County with over 300 areas around the country in terms of economic
development.
Fayette County Development Authority Director John Boothby said he
first got the idea of hiring Fruth after listening to him at an Association of County
Commission Governments meeting.
Fruth is president of POLICOM Corporation in Jupiter, Fla. POLICOM is
an independent economics research firm that specializes in evaluating dynamics of
local economies.
Boothby expects between 80 to 100 people at the summit.
The authority is spending $6,500 on the survey, but Boothby said several
companies have contributed to the cost.
