The Georgia Student Finance Commission has unveiled a college aid web site at www.gsfc.org. The site provides students and parents with comprehensive information on career planning and financial aid for college. The web site includes information on Georgia's HOPE (Helping Outstanding Pupils Educationally) Scholarship program, plus other grant, loan and scholarship programs offered by the GSFC to Georgia students. In addition, students who already have scholarships and loans through the GSFC can easily and securely access their files to see which awards they have received, check repayment schedules and contact representatives about their accounts. "We have created a truly interactive communications link for parents and students seeking educational opportunities beyond high school," said commission executive director Glenn Newsome. Newsome said one of the best new features on the site is "Mapping Your Future." This link offers guidance in career planning and selection of a college, in addition to "Frequently Asked Questions" about student financial aid. It also includes useful advice on resume preparation, job hunting and interviewing tips, a calendar of important dates in the financial aid process and links to other scholarship resources. Through links to these other web sites, students can also fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, which is required for all federal and state aid programs, including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program. |
