Banquet, festival highlight Christian City homecoming

Christian City is celebrating Homecoming '98 this weekend with an awards banquet Friday, the annual Fall Festival on Saturday, and a special ministry video Sunday.

The Friday night banquet at the Georgia International Convention Center features an optional black tie, $100-per-plate dinner and speaker S. Truett Cathy, founder and owner of Chick-fil-A.

Local churches from Fayette and surrounding counties have prepared baskets and other items for sale at the popular Fall Festival, which is complete with crafts, Christmas items, baked goods, refreshments and entertainment. It will be at the Sparks Inn auditorium at the Christian City campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Christian City's thrift store, Graceland, will also be open. All profits benefit the Home for Children.

Supporting churches will feature Christian City during their Sunday morning worship services, showing a six-minute video that explains the various ministries Christian City provides to its 1,100 residents.
