Women's Day celebrated at Fairburn AME Sunday

Preparations are under way for a celebration of "Christian Women Standing Firm on the Battlefield for the Lord" at St. John AME Church in Fairburn.

A revival starts the celebration, nightly at 7:30 from tonight through Saturday. Speakers include the Rev. Cassandra Marcus, Turner Chapel AME, Marietta; the Rev. Frances Hunter, St. Paul AME, Atlanta; and evangelist Sharon Ashford-Grant of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church in East Point.

Two services are set for Women's Day this Sunday. The Rev. Sherry Gaither, co-pastor of Stronghold Christian Church in Lithonia, will speak at the 8 a.m. service. Dr. Teresa L. Fry Brown, associate professor of homiletics and interim director of Black Church Studies at Candler School of Theology of Emory University, will speak at the 11 a.m. service.
